Henry Rodriguez Turrey Sr. was
told the following story as child by his Grandmother Candelaria “Malala” De la O Rodriguez.
The
Indians came and attacked the town, ramsaked the house. They didn’t bother the people in the church,
the De la O’s retaliated, Buenaventura had just gotten married and was told to stay home by the other brothers, a couple
of the brothers and an Uncle didn’t make it back they later retrieved the bodies in a horse drawn carriage with canvass
to cover the bodies. The bodies had been pecked by animals.
Another story told by Henry Rodriguez
Turrey, Sr.
Lived in San Francisco William “Bill” De la O has a bible with Guadalupe
well dressed in a big car would visit Grandma Malala ICandelaria De la O Rodriguez) Globe. Josephine was
the wife. Nicanora Davies ISan Diego, CA??) came with Bill and Bill’s son mid 1990’s.
Don't know if we are related to the De la O's from Mimbres - Antonio
De la O, they have pictures of him in the Silver City Museum (or at least there were back in 2009).
If you can dispute or have conflicting information let me know and we can work something out, I know some branches of
the family had different interpretations of what was presented in the
New Mexico Magazine article back in 1963.
